PATTERN BALANCE ADJUSTMENT If decorative stitches, letters, numbers or the manual buttonhole are uneven when sewn on a particular fabric, adjust them with the stitch adjustment dial. Use a coin or screwdriver to turn the dial slightly toward the "+" or "­". The stitch adjustment dial normally should be in the horizontal position. Adjusting distorted stretch stitch stitches A. When stitches are too compressed, correct by turning the dial in the direction of "­". B. Correct setting. C. When stitches are too drawn out, correct by turning the dial in the direction of "+".
