D. CHAIN BRAKE I . Keep the clutch drunrand brake band clean and free of sawdust, tree sap, and dirt so the brake will atop the chain in the shortest possible time. 2. Clean the entire mechanism thoroughly every 10 tanks of fuel or every 5 hours of operation, whichever is less. Des not allow oil or ,Arease to get on the band ordrunk Figure 34. 3.Inspect the assembly for worn or damaged parts after every time the unit is cleaned. Band Figure 34 A WARNING The effectiveness of a chain brake in reducing injuries has not been fully determined. Poulan/Poulan Pro cannot represent that a chain brake is an effective safety device to prevent or reduce the hazard of injuries resulting from kickback. Do not assume that the chain brake will protect you in the event of kickback. Instead, use the saw properly and carefully to avoid kickback. Proper operation is outlined in the Operator's Manual. Repairs on the chain brake must be made by qualified service personnel. Take you saw/chain to the place of purchase if purchased from a servicing dealer, or to the nearest PoulaniPoulan Pro Authorized Master Service Dealer.
