Web and Data Note: The default view for the Browser window is to show the page at full screen with only the GO/STOP and TOOLBAR buttons visible. Tip: To change the default launch page to the last page you viewed, press TOOLBAR (right softkey) > OPTIONS > Set as Homepage. Data Connection Status and Indicators Your phone displays the current status of your data connection through indicators at the top of the screen. The following symbols are used: Your data connection is active (data is being transferred). When the triangles are animated, your phone is transferring data (for example, when you are opening a Web page); when the triangles are gray, your phone is connected to the network but is not currently transferring data (for example, when you are viewing a Web page that is completely open). In either state, you can receive incoming calls. Your data connection is dormant (no data is being sent or received. When the arrows are gray, your phone is connected to the network but is not currently transferring data. Though not currently active, when dormant the phone can restart an active connection quickly; voice calls can be made and received. If you do not see an indicator, your phone does not have a current data connection. To launch a connection, see "Launching a Web Connection" on page 128. Data Restrictions Parental Controls determine what features you have access to on your phone. (See "Using Parental Controls" on page 60.) When you first connect to the Web, access is confirmed against the current Parental Restrictions. If data access has been restricted, you will be notified with an onscreen warning. This feature helps prevent any accidental data connections. You can disable the data restriction feature by changing the setting from within the Parental Controls menu. 3B. Web and Data Services 129

Web and Data
Data Connection Status and Indicators
Your phone displays the current status of your data
connection through indicators at the top of the screen.
The following symbols are used:
Your data connection is active (data is being
transferred). When the triangles are animated,
your phone is transferring data (for example,
when you are opening a Web page); when the
triangles are gray, your phone is connected to
the network but is not currently transferring
data (for example, when you are viewing a
Web page that is completely open). In either

Data Restrictions
