UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONNECTIONS The Universal Serial Bus is hot-pluggable which means you do not have to shutdown your computer when inserting or removing USB connections. Also USB does not require any terminators or the adjustment of any settings of your computer. You merely need to add device drivers, a small piece of software. The installation of the drivers is covered in the Macintosh and Windows Installation sections. USB ports and cables are identified by the USB symbol. UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONNECTIONS One of the advantages of the USB connector is that each connector can be inserted in only one way. The top of the connector has the USB symbol. To attach the port connector of the USB cable: Ñ Keep the USB symbol up and insert into the USB port. To remove the USB port connector: Ñ Grasp the port connector and pull to remove. To attach the device connector of the USB cable: Ñ Keep the I/O symbol up, push the buttons on the side of the connector and attach to the driveÕs USB port. When the connection is secure, release the buttons. To remove the USB device connector: Ñ Push the buttons on the side of the device connector together and pull to remove.

One of the advantages of the USB connector is that each connector

To attach the port connector of the USB cable:

Keep the USB symbol up and insert into the USB port.
To remove the USB port connector:

Grasp the port connector and pull to remove.
To attach the device connector of the USB cable:
