Table of Contents Useful Recording Techniques To assign the menu items to the MANUAL dial  Press and hold MANUAL down for a few seconds.  Rotate the MANUAL dial and select the item to be assigned.  Press MANUAL.  Notes  Manual settings will be retained even if you change the assigned item of the MANUAL dial. However, if you set [EXPOSURE] after setting [AE SHIFT] manually, [EXPOSURE] will override [AE SHIFT].  If you select [RESET] in step , all the items adjusted manually are reset to the default settings.  Tips  The functions of the items that can be assigned to the MANUAL dial are the same as those of menu operation.  You can also assign menu items to the MANUAL dial by touching (HOME)  (SETTINGS)  [MOVIE SETTINGS]/[PHOTO SETTINGS]  [DIAL SETTING]. Acquiring location information (GPS) (HDR-XR500V/XR520V) Set the GPS switch to ON ( appears on the LCD screen). Your camcorder starts trying to triangulate. When your camcorder triangulates successfully, it will record the location information at the time movies and photos were recorded. The movies and photos with location information will appear on a map (p. 44), so that you can remember where you recorded those movies and photos. In addition, you can acquire your current location information to check where you are at the moment (p. 59).  Using the supplied software, "PMB," you can display the movies and photos where you recorded them on a map. To assign the menu items to the MANUAL dial
Press and hold MANUAL down for a few seconds.
Rotate the MANUAL dial and select the item to be assigned.

Notes
