Why won't my computer enter Standby or Hibernate mode? If you press a key or the power button while the computer is entering Standby or Hibernate mode, then the operating system may become unstable and prevent the computer from entering either power saving mode. To restore the computer to normal operating stability 1 Close all open programs. 2 Restart the computer.
