Temporarily Mute the Base Ringer and Call Screen Press the key to temporarily mute the incoming ring and call screen. The ringer will sound with the next incoming call. To turn the ringer back on for this call, press the ringer key. To hear the answering machine and screen this call, press the volume/select/ or key. Adjusting the Speaker Volume Level You can adjust the volume of the base speaker by pressing the volume/select/ or key on the base. Press the volume/select/ key for louder or the volume/select/ key for softer while the base speaker is being used except for menu mode. The numbers [ ]- [ ] are displayed on the base indicating the volume levels. [ ] being the softest and [ ] being the loudest. Turning the Answering System On/Off To turn the answering system on, press the key. The system will announce "Answering system is on". The current greeting message will be played, and you will hear a confirmation tone. The message counter displays the number of messages stored in memory. If the display flashes, then there are new messages waiting for you. To turn the answering system off, press the key again.
