Telephone operation Make a call • Press /FLASH and then dial the telephone number. -OR• Predial by first dialing the telephone number and then press /FLASH. Answer a call • Press /FLASH or any of the dialing keys (0-9, TONE or #). CANCEL CA End a call • Press OFF/CANCEL or put the handset to the telephone base or charger. CANC Volume • During a call, press CID/VOL- or adjust the listening volume. /VOL+ to CANCEL CANCEL Mute The mute function allows you to hear the other party but the other party cannot hear you. CANCEL . During a call, press MUTE/DELETE. The screen displays Muted until the mute function is turned off. 2. Press MUTE/DELETE again to resume the conversation. The screen temporarily displays Microphone on. Share an outside call (for models CS6114-2 and CS6114-21 only) You can use both handsets at a time on an outside call. • When a handset is already on a call, press /FLASH on another handset to join the call. • To exit the call, press OFF/CANCEL or place the handset in the telephone base or charger. The call continues until all handsets hang up. Call waiting When you subscribe to call waiting service from your telephone service provider, you hear an alert tone if there is an incoming call while you are on another call. • Press /FLASH to put the current call on hold and take the new call. • Press /FLASH at any time to switch back and forth between calls. Temporary ringer silencing When the telephone is ringing, you can temporarily silence the ringer of the handset without disconnecting the call. The next call rings normally at the preset volume. • To silence the handset ringer, press OFF/CANCEL or Ringer muted MUTE/DELETE and Ringer muted displays. 10:15 PM 12/25 Temporary tone dialing If you have pulse (rotary) service only, you can switch from pulse to tone dialing temporarily during a call. This is useful if you need to send touchtone signals to access your telephone banking or long distance services. . During a call, press TONE . 2. Use the dialing keys to enter the relevant number. The telephone sends touch-tone signals. 3. The telephone automatically returns to pulse dialing mode after you end the call.
