Inserting a battery Turn the power off before you replace the battery. Install one eneloop (supplied) or AAA/LR03/HP16 alkaline battery. Note: · If you use an alkaline battery, press and hold down the MENU/STOP button for at least two seconds to access the COMMON menu, then select "ALKALINE" for the BATTERY SETTING. Starting Up Battery indicator Check the battery indicator on the LCD screen to determine the remaining battery power. : Good condition : Weak battery : Exhausted battery: Recharge the "eneloop" (page 37) or replace the battery with a new alkaline battery. If you keep using the recorder without recharging the "eneloop" or replacing the battery, the recorder will display the message "LOW BATTERY PLEASE CHARGE A BATTERY" or "LOW BATTERY." The LCD screen will then go dark. Hint: When you turn on the power to the recorder for the first time after purchase, set the date and time. To do so, press and hold down the MENU/STOP button for at least two seconds to access the COMMON menu, then use the DATE & TIME settings.
