The anti-lock system can change the brake pressure faster than any driver could. The computeris programmed to make the most of available tire and road conditions. /A CAUTION: ... Anti-lock doesn't change the time you need to get your footup to the brake pedal. If you get too close to the vehicle in front of you, you won't have time to apply your brakes if that vehicle cvddenly slows or stops. Always leave enough luom up ahead to stop, even though youhave anti-lock brakes. To Use Anti-Lock: Don't pump the brakes. Just hold the brake pedal down and let anti-lock work for you. You also may hear a clicking noise as you accelerate after a hard stop. Disc Brake Wear Indicators Your Buick has four-wheel disc brakes. You can steer around the obstacle while braking hard. As you brake, your computer keeps receiving updates on wheel speed and controls braking pressure accordingly. Disc brake pads have built-in wear indicators that make a high-pitched warning sound when the brake pads are worn and new pads are needed. The sound may come and go or be heard all the time your vehicle is moving (except when you are pushing on the brake pedal firmly). 142
