2. Once the transmitter is separated, use a pencil eraser to remove the old battery. Do not use a metal object. 3. Remove and replace the battery as the instructions under the cover indicate. Use a Duracell® battery, type DL-2032, or a similar type. 4. Snap the transmitter back together tightly to be sure no moisture can enter. 5. Test the operation of the transmitter with your vehicle. If the transmitter does not work, resynchronize the transmitter. Doors and Locks Door Locks {CAUTION: Unlocked doors can be dangerous. • Passengers - especially children - can easily open the doors and fall out of a moving vehicle. When a door is locked, the handle will not open it. You increase the chance of being thrown out of the vehicle in a crash if the doors are not locked. So, wear safety belts properly and lock the doors whenever you drive. • Young children who get into unlocked vehicles may be unable to get out. A child can be overcome by extreme heat and can suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke. Always lock your vehicle whenever you leave it. • Outsiders can easily enter through an unlocked door when you slow down or stop your vehicle. Locking your doors can help prevent this from happening. Resynchronization After replacing the battery in your transmitter, or if only the remote alarm works, the transmitter needs to be resynchronized to the receiver. Do this by pressing and holding both the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for about eight seconds. You must be within range of the vehicle. Once the transmitter has been resynchronized, the horn will chirp and the exterior lamps will flash once. The system should now operate properly. 2-9
