Turn Signals When Towing a Trailer When you towa trailer, your vehicle may need a different turn signal flasher andextra wiring. Check with your Cadillac dealer. Thegreen arrows on your instrument panel will flash whenever you signal a turn or lane change. Properly hooked the trailer lamps up, will also flash, telling other drivers you're about turn, to change lanes or stop. When towing a trailer, the green arrows on your instrument panel will flash turns even if the bulbs on for the trailer are burned out. Thus, you may think drivers behind you are seeing your signal when they not. are It's importantto check occasionally to be sure thetrailer bulbs are still working. Parking on Hills You really should notpark your vehicle, with a trailer attached, on a hill. If something goes wrong, your rig could start to move. People can be injured, and both your vehicle and the trailer can be damaged. But if you ever have to park your on a hill, here's rig how to do it: do 1. Apply your regular brakes, but not shift into PARK (P). 2. Have someone placechocks under the trailer wheels. Driving On Grades Reduce speed and shift to lower gear before you start a down a longor steep downgrade. If you don't shift down, you might have to use your brakes much that so they would get hot and no longer work well. On a long uphill grade, shift down and reduce your speed to around 45 mph (70 km/h) or less to reducethe possibility of engine and transaxle overheating. 3. When the wheelchocks are in place, release the regular brakes until thechocks absorb the load. 4. Reapply the regular brakes. Then shift into PARK (P) firmly and apply your parking brake. 5 . Release the regular brakes. 4-37
