(i) Drain, flush, and refill cooling system. This service can be complex; you should have your dealer perform this service. See Engine Coolant on page 357 for what to use. Inspect hoses. Clean radiator, condenser, pressure cap, and filler neck. Pressure test the cooling system and pressure cap. (j) If using DOT-4 brake fluid only: Drain, flush, and refill brake hydraulic system at a regular maintenance service (I or II) every two years. This service can be complex; you should have your dealer perform this service. See Brakes on page 372. (k) A fluid loss in any vehicle system could indicate a problem. Have the system inspected and repaired and the fluid level checked. Add fluid if needed. (l) Change fluid if the vehicle is used for high performance operation. (m) Change fluid whenever the vehicle has been driven for 3,000 miles (5 000 km) with the transmission temperature at 290°F (143°C) or higher without using an auxiliary fluid cooler. See Message Center (CTS-V) on page 209 and Transmission Fluid Hot Message on page 214. (n) If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, inspect the filter at each engine oil change. (p) Visually inspect belt for fraying, excessive cracks, or obvious damage. Replace belt if necessary. Owner Checks and Services These owner checks and services should be performed at the intervals specified to help ensure the safety, dependability, and emission control performance of your vehicle. Your GM Goodwrench® dealer can assist you with these checks and services. Be sure any necessary repairs are completed at once. Whenever any fluids or lubricants are added to your vehicle, make sure they are the proper ones, as shown in Recommended Fluids and Lubricants on page 474. 469
