MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT 103 Fuel Filter Accumulation of moisture or sediment in the fuel system can restrict the flow of fuel and cause injection pump damage. The system should be checked in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart. WARNING Fuel is extremely flammable and can be explosive under certain conditions. Turn the main switch OFF. Do not smoke. Make sure the area is well ventilated and free from any source of flame or sparks; this includes any appliance with a pilot light. Make sure the engine is cold before working. Fuel Filter
Accumulation of moisture or sediment in the fuel
system can restrict the flow of fuel and cause injec-
tion pump damage. The system should be checked
in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart.
WARNING
Fuel is extremely flammable and can be ex-
plosive under certain conditions.
Turn the
main switch OFF. Do not smoke. Make sure
the area is well ventilated and free from any
source of flame or sparks; this includes any
appliance with a pilot light. Make sure the en-
gine is cold before working. Wipe any fuel off
the engine before starting it.
Draining
Stop the engine.
Pull the rear edge of the seat upward.
Place a suitable container under the fuel filter.
Open the air vent plug counterclockwise several
turns.

Turn the drain cap on the bottom of the fuel filter
clockwise 1 turn to loosen it. Allow any water and
sediment to drain out of the tube.
