MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT
Idle Speed
The idle adjustment should be per-
formed in accordance with the Peri-
odic Maintenance Chart or whenever
the idle speed is disturbed.
Adjustment
Start the engine, and warm it up thor-
oughly.
Wait until the idle speed drops before
making the following adjustment.
Adjust the idle speed to 950
1 050
r/min (rpm) by turning the idle adjust-
ing screw located at the right front
cylinder.
NOTE
While the engine is cold, the fast idle
system automatically raises the en-
gine idling speed.
A. Idle Speed Adjusting Screw
Open and close the throttle a few
times to make sure that the idle
speed does not change. Readjust if
necessary.
With the engine idling, turn the han-
dlebar to each side.
If handlebar
movement changes the idle speed,
the throttle cables may be improperly
adjusted or incorrectly routed, or they
may be damaged. Be sure to correct
any of these conditions before riding.
