IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY (i) Closing the rear of trunk lid Closing the quarter windows If the retractable hardtop does not close, the quarter windows can be closed electrically using the following operation. 1. Turn the ignition switch on. 2. Turn the trunk lid opener main switch in the glove box from the operative position to the inoperative position (in the cancelled position). See page 86. 3. Push the "OPEN/CLOSE" switch on the "OPEN" side twice slowly within 10 seconds after step 2. 4. Hold down the same switch on the "CLOSE" side once within 10 seconds after step 3. The quarter windows will close. 40sa23b Close the trunk lid as you do usually. Be sure to have the system checked by your Lexus dealer as soon as possible. INFORMATION Operate the switch slowly. Pushing it quickly may not close the quarter windows. NOTICE Drive your vehicle at low speeds. High speed driving could cause the trunk lid to open. CAUTION D Before closing the quarter windows, first make sure it is safe to do so. Always make sure nobody places his/her head, hands or other parts of the body on the windows. If someone's neck, head or hands get caught in the closing windows, it could result in serious injury. If any part of your body or something should be caught, release your hand from the switch immediately. The window operation will be stopped. 269
