2-4. Using other driving systems n Vehicle-to-vehicle distance settings Select a distance from the table below. Note that the distances shown correspond to a vehicle speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Vehicle-to-vehicle distance increases/ decreases in accordance with vehicle speed. Distance options Long Medium Short n Radar sensor and grille cover Vehicle-to-vehicle distance Approximately 164 ft. (50 m) Approximately 132 ft. (40 m) Approximately 100 ft. (30 m) Always keep the sensor and grille cover clean to ensure that the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control operates properly. (Some obstructions, such as snow, ice or plastic objects, cannot be detected by the obstruction sensor.) Dynamic radar cruise control is canceled if an obstruction is detected. If the dynamic radar cruise control is used on a road with very light traffic and very little to reflect the radar waves emitted by the radar sensor, the system may decide that the radar sensor is dirty, even if the sensor is not actually dirty. In this case, switch to the conventional constant speed control mode. (→P. 201) n Approach warning In the following instances, there is a possibility that the warnings will not occur: l When the speed of the vehicle ahead matches or exceeds your vehicle's speed l When the vehicle ahead is traveling at an extremely slow speed l Immediately after the cruise control speed has been set l At the instant the accelerator is applied 206
