Driving Safely 5. Staying uphill of the ATV, turn the handlebars full left. 6. While holding the brake, release the parking brake lock and slowly release the brake, allowing the ATV to roll around to your right until it's pointing across the hill or slightly downward. 7. Lock the parking brake and remount the ATV from the uphill side, maintaining body weight uphill. 8. Restart the engine. 9. Squeeze the rear brake lever. 8' 10.
