MAINTENANCE Oil and Filter Change CAUTION Hot oil can cause serious burns to skin. Do not allow hot oil to contact skin. Always change the oil and filter at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 68. To change the oil properly, always drain the oil tank and change the oil filter. NOTE: If oil contamination (water, mud, metal shavings) is suspected in the engine sump, the sump should also be drained. Draining the engine sump will require additional oil not contained in the oil change kit. The total oil capacity of the engine sump and oil tank combined is 2.25 qts. (2.1 liters). 1. Position the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Place the transmission in neutral. 3. Lock the parking brake. 4. Start the engine. Allow it to idle for two to three minutes. Stop the engine. 5. Clean the area around the oil tank drain plug. 6. Place a drain pan under the oil tank. 7. Remove the drain plug. Use a 14 mm wrench. 8. Drain the oil. 9. Reinstall the oil tank drain plug. NOTE: The sealing surfaces on the drain plug and oil tank should be clean and free of burrs, nicks or scratches. 10. Torque to specification. See page 74. 76

MAINTENANCE
Oil and Filter Change
Always change the oil and filter at the intervals outlined in the Periodic
Maintenance Chart beginning on page 68. To change the oil properly,
always drain the oil tank and change the oil filter.
NOTE:
If oil contamination (water, mud, metal shavings) is suspected in the
engine sump, the sump should also be drained. Draining the engine
sump will require additional oil not contained in the oil change kit. The
total oil capacity of the engine sump
and
oil tank combined is 2.25 qts.
(2.1 liters).
1.
Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2.
Place the transmission in neutral.
3.
Lock the parking brake.
4.
Start the engine. Allow it to idle for
two to three minutes. Stop the
engine.
5.
Clean the area around the oil tank
drain plug.
6.
Place a drain pan under the oil tank.
7.
Remove the drain plug. Use a 14
mm wrench.
8.
Drain the oil.
9.
Reinstall the oil tank drain plug.
NOTE:
The sealing surfaces on the drain plug and oil tank should be clean
and free of burrs, nicks or scratches.
10.
Torque to specification. See page 74.
