Chapter 1 Cisco 800 Series The Cisco 800 series router provides enhanced network security, wireless LAN, and proven reliability through Cisco IOS software, for small offices and telecommuters. It connects users to the Internet or to a corporate LAN via one ADSL, ADSL over ISDN, G.SHDSL, Cable DOCSIS 2.0, or with an Ethernet WAN port connected to an external broadband modem. The Cisco 870 Series also includes security features like IPS, 802.1x, Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN), EasyVPN, and URL filtering • Out-of-band management and dial backup with an external modem via aux/console port on the 870 series routers • Dial backup via integrated ISDN port on the 876 • X.25 over D-channel support on 876 • DMZ interface on all 870 routers.
