Using the keyboard - 17 Hotkeys The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output. To activate hotkeys, press and hold the Fn key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination. Hotkey Fn + F3 Fn + F4 Fn + F5 Fn + F6 Fn + F7 Icon Function Description Airplane mode Turns on / off the computer's network devices. Sleep Puts the computer in Sleep mode. Switches display output between Display toggle the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both. Turns the display screen Display off backlight off to save power. Press any key to return. Touchpad Turns the built-in touchpad on toggle and off. Fn + F8 Speaker toggle Turns the speakers on and off. Fn + F11 Fn + F12 NumLk Scr Lk Numeric Lock Turns the embedded numeric keypad on or off. Scroll Lock Turns Scroll Lock on or off. Fn + Brightness up Increases the screen brightness. Fn + Fn + Brightness down Volume up Decreases the screen brightness. Increases the sound volume. Fn + Volume down Decreases the sound volume. Fn + Pg Up Fn + Pg Dn Home End Scrolls to the beginning of a document. Scrolls to the end of a document.
