BIOS Flash Utility The BIOS flash memory update is required for the following conditions: T New versions of system programs T New features or options Use the Phlash utility to update the system BIOS flash ROM. NOTE: Do not install memory-related drivers (XMS, EMS, DPMI) when you use IFlash. NOTE: This program contains a readme.txt file. This readme.txt file will introduce on how to use Phlash utility. Executing Flash Program IMPORTANT:If this diskette is not bootable, do the following actions before you use it: Please do the following to update BIOS. To update BIOS: 1. Prepare the BIOS Flash Diskette a. Create one bootable DOS floppy diskette (This applies to Windows 98 and Windows ME and Windows XP.) b. Save Update.bat, R01XXX.ROM and Phlash.exe to A:\ 2. Boot the computer with the BIOS Flash Diskette a. Insert the created floppy diskette into a floppy diskette drive before you turn on the computer. b. Press the power button. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions after booting. a. Type the following: A:\>Update NOTE: XXXX represents for the version of BIOS IMPORTANT:Never turn off the system power while Flash BIOS is programming. This will damage your system. 4. After Flash BIOS is done, reboot the system. NOTE: If there are any problems occurred during BIOS update, see for troubleshooting. Chapter 2 53
