If the computer won't turn on or start up: Make sure the power adapter is plugged into the computer and into a functioning power outlet. m Your battery may need to be recharged. You should see an amber light around the power adapter connector when it is plugged in and the battery is charging. If that does not work, reset the computer's memory. m Start up the computer and immediately hold down the Command (x), Option, P, and R keys until you hear the startup sound a second time. If that does not work or if you hear a strange sound during startup: m If you recently installed additional memory, make sure that it is correctly installed. Try removing the memory; if the computer starts up normally, the memory is not compatible with your computer. m If that doesn't work, press the internal reset button (marked with the ˛ icon) by inserting the end of a paper clip into the small hole above the Power button, wait a few seconds, and then press the Power button. m Contact an Apple-authorized service provider. Other problems: If you have a problem with your Internet connection: m Make sure the telephone line is connected and the line is functioning properly. m Open the Help menu and choose Mac Help. There you can find how to locate your Internet settings and the contact information for your Internet service provider. If you have a problem connecting other devices: m Make sure that the device is properly connected. Try unplugging and plugging in the device again. m Check to see if the device requires any software that needs to be installed. m If that doesn't work, contact the device manufacturer. m If you have an older device you want to connect, see Mac Help for information on connecting older devices to your computer. If you have a problem with an application: m For problems with software, contact the individual software manufacturer.
