2 Knowing the Parts Top Side Refer to the diagram below to identify the components on the top side of the Notebook PC. Status Indicators (when display panel closed) Display Panel Latch Display Panel Power4 Gear Button Microphone Power Switch Keyboard Status Indicators Touchpad Display Panel Release Status Indicators (when display panel closed) These are light pipes to direct the LED light through the display panel for viewing while the display panel is closed. Status indicator details are described in section 3. Display Panel The display panel functions the same as a desktop monitor. The Notebook PC uses an active matrix TFT LCD, which provides excellent viewing like that of desktop monitors. Unlike desktop monitors, the LCD panel does not produce any radiation or flickering, so it is easier on the eyes. 16
