2.5.4 PCI slots The PCI slots support cards such as a LAN card, SCSI card, USB card, and other cards that comply with PCI specifications. Refer to the figure below for the location of the slots. 2.5.5 PCI Express x1 slots This motherboard supports PCI Express x1 network cards, SCSI cards and other cards that comply with the PCI Express specifications. Refer to the figure below for the location of the slots. 2.5.6 PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot This motherboard supports a PCI Express x16 graphics card that comply with the PCI Express specifications. Refer to the figure below for the location of the slot. PCI Express x1 slot 1 PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot (Blue) PCI Express x1 slot 2 PCI Express x1 slot 3 PCI slot 2 PCI slot 1 PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot 2 (Black) • In single VGA card mode, use first the PCIe 2.0 x16_1 slot (blue) for a PCI Express x16 graphics card to get better performance. • In CrossFireX™ mode, use the PCIe 2.0 x16_1 (blue) and PCIe 2.0 x16_2 (black) slots for PCI Express x16 graphics cards to get better performance. • Use the two PCIe 2.0 x16 slots and the universal PCIe x16 slot for 3-Way CrossFireX™ mode. • We recommend that you provide sufficient power when running CrossFireX™ mode. See page 2-36 for details. • Connect a chassis fan to the motherboard connector labeled CHA_FAN1/2/3 when using multiple graphics cards for better thermal environment. See page 2-33 for details.
