2.2.9 Creating a Storage Configuration You can configure RAID drive groups and virtual drives to create storage configurations on systems with LSI SAS controllers. To create a storage configuration: 1. In the VD Mgmt screen, navigate to the controller and press the key. 2. Press . The Create New VD screen appears. You can use the Create New VD dialog to create virtual drives for Unconfigured Good drives. To create virtual drives for existing drive groups, navigate to a drive group and press the key to view the Add VD in Drive Group dialog. The fields in the Add VD in Drive Group dialog are the same as in the Create New VD dialog. 3. Select a RAID level for the drive group from the RAID Level field. 4. All the available unconfigured good drives appear in the Drives box. Select the physical drives that you prefer. 5. You can enter a size less than the maximum size of the drive group, if you want to create other virtual drives on the same drive group. The maximum size of the drive group appears in the Size field. Before entering a size, ensure that you have deleted the previous default value by using the key. 6. Enter a name for the virtual drive in the Name field. The name given to the virtual drive cannot exceed 15 characters. 7. Press OK. Press Advanced to set additional properties. Creating a Storage Configuration
You can configure RAID drive groups and virtual drives to create storage
configurations on systems with LSI SAS controllers.
To create a storage configuration:
1.
In the
VD Mgmt
screen, navigate to the controller and press the <F2> key.
2.
Press <Enter>. The
Create New VD
screen appears.
You can use the
Create New VD
dialog to create virtual drives for Unconfigured
Good drives. To create virtual drives for existing drive groups, navigate to a
drive group and press the <F2> key to view the
Add VD in Drive Group
dialog.
The fields in the
Add VD in Drive Group
dialog are the same as in the
Create
New VD
dialog.

Select a RAID level for the drive group from the
RAID Level
field.

All the available unconfigured good drives appear in the
Drives
box. Select
the physical drives that you prefer.
