2.2.2 Installing the device To install the ASUS USB Wireless LAN Adapter in your computer: 1. Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port of the device. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB port of your computer. 3. Windows® automatically detects the device and displays the Found New Hardware dialog box. Follow screen instructions 1 2 to proceed. 4. Windows® 2000 users - A Digital Signature Not Found dialog box may appear. Click Yes to proceed. Windows® XP users - A Windows Logo Testing Not Found dialog box may appear. Click Continue Anyway to proceed. 5. After completing installation, configure the ASUS USB Wireless LAN Adapter using the Wireless Settings utility. Refer to the next chapter for details. 2.3 Placement Take note of the following before placing the device. • Place the device on a flat, stable surface as far from the ground as possible • Keep the device away from metal obstructions and direct sunlight. • Keep the device away from transformers, heavy-duty motors, fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and other industrial equipment to prevent interference and signal loss. Install this device at least 20 centimeters from any person to insure that the product is operated in accordance with the RF Guidelines for Human Exposure which have been adopted by the Federal Communications Commission.
