Connections 1. Insert one end of the Smartbus cable into the "DATA BUS" slot on the side of the NAV101 and secure it with a 11mm (.4in) screw (provided). Connect the other end of the cable to the NAV101 input on the back of your Audiovox navigationready head unit (VME 9122 TS VME 9512 TS, VME 9312 TS) If using a VME 9312TS or VME 9512TS, secure the cable to the radio using a 11mm (.4in) screw. The VME 9122 has a cable to cable connection and does not require an anchor screw. 2. Attach the GPS Antenna to the "ANTENNA" jack on the side of the NAV101. 3. Insert SD card into the SD card slot and gently press the card in against the spring latch until it stops, then release. The card will "lock" firmly into place inside the SD card slot. GETTING STARTED The initial GPS location lock is best established when your vehicle is parked. If the device is in motion, the signal can take longer to initially connect. Once the initial coordinates are established, the software will follow you as you move and navigate. NOTE: It may take up to 5 minutes to establish the first connection. Subsequent connections will be faster (30 seconds to 1 minute), but if you have not used the unit for several days or are very far away from the last location you used it, it may take up to 5 minutes again to find a strong signal. Set time zone Your NAV101 automatically determines the time through the GPS signal. However, you must set your time zone. • Select your time zone from the list. You can change the time zone later (see "General Settings" on page 32) • Press the confirmation icon. View Safety Precautions Next, a screen with safety precautions will be shown. 1. Read the safety precautions. 2. Press "I Agree" to continue to the Main Menu. 48 Subject to technical change
