Setting Up • Figure 9 Connecting components to the Lifestyle' 800 system inputs How to set up your home theater There are two basic methods for setting up your home theater. It is best to connect components directly to the Lifestyle° 800 music center, and select the source from its remote or control panel. A second option is to use a stereoIV as the switching center to select the sound source. In each example, the analog outputs from the DVD player (or other digital device) are connected to the AUX inputs. You may need long audio cables or cable extensions for some of these connections. (1) To connect video sound sources directly to the Lifestyle 800 system You may connect up to three video sound sources directly to your system. For example, connect the analog outputs of your DVD player to AUX, the TV to VIDEO SOUND, and the VCR's fixed outputs to TAPE PLAY on the back of your music center. (See Figure 9.) Connect the coaxial digital audio output from your DVD player to the female RCA connection on the audio input cable (connecting the music center with the module) using a male-to-male RCA cable. If a valid digital signal is received by the Lifestyle° 800 system through the audio input cable, the system plays that audio source. If no valid digital signal is received, it selects the backup analog signal being sent to AUX. When connecting to your TV: • Connect the TV fixed audio outputs to the VIDEO SOUND INPUTs on the music center. • Turn the TV speakers off or the volume all the way down. (If there is an intemal/extemal speakers switch, select external speakers. Do not connect any speakers to the TV.) • Turn off any special TV settings such as expanded stereo, mega-bass, phantom, or SAP. They prevent proper surround processing through your Lifestyle° system. • Set the TV balance control to the center of the dial or range. • Set tone controls to fiat or the middle position (neutral). • Set TV to the stereo position. How
to
set
up
your
home
theater
There
are
two
basic
methods
for
setting
up
your
home
theater.
It
is
best
to
connect
compo-
nents
directly
to
the
Lifestyle°
800
music
center,
and
select
the
source
from
its
remote
or

panel.
A
second
option
is
to
use
a
stereo
IV
as
the
switching
center
to
select
the
sound
source.
In
each
example,
the
analog
outputs
from
the
DVD
player
(or
other
digital
device)
are
connected
to
the
AUX
inputs.
You
may
need
long
audio
cables
or
cable
exten-
sions
for
some
of
these
connections.
(1)
To
connect
video
sound
sources
directly
to
the
Lifestyle
800
system
You
may
connect
up
to
three
video
sound
sources
directly
to
your
system.
For
example,
connect
the
analog
outputs
of
your
DVD
player
to
AUX,
the
TV
to
VIDEO
SOUND,
and
the
VCR's

connection
on
the

using

cable.
If
a
valid
digital
signal
is
received
by
the
Lifestyle°
800
system
through
the
audio
input
cable,
the
system
plays
that
audio
source.
If
no
valid
digital
signal
is
received,
it
selects
the
backup
analog
signal
being
sent
to
AUX.
When
connecting
to
your
TV:
Connect
the
TV

audio
outputs
to
the
VIDEO
SOUND
INPUTs
on
the
music
center.
Turn
the
TV
speakers
off
or
the
volume
all
the
way
down.
(If
there
is
an
intemal/extemal
speakers
switch,
select
external
speakers.
Do
not
connect
any
speakers
to
the
TV.)
Turn
off
any
special
TV
settings
such
as
expanded
stereo,
mega
-bass,
phantom,
or
SAP.
They
prevent
proper
surround
processing
through

system.
Set
the
TV

control
to
the

of
the
