This means that the machine does not produce hazardous radiation. Since radiation emitted inside the machine is completely confined within protective housings and external covers, the laser beam cannot escape from the machine during any phase of user operation. CDRH Regulations The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration implemented regulations for laser products on August 2, 1976. These regulations apply to laser products manufactured from August 1, 1976. Compliance is mandatory for products marketed in the United States. CAUTION Use of controls, adjustments, or performance of procedures other than those specified in this manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure. The label is attached to the laser scanner machine inside the machine and is not in a user access area. 5
