Understanding POST Results Chapter 3 Troubleshooting When the POST is successful, the port status LEDs go off, meaning that the switch is operational. If a test fails, the port status LED associated with the test turns amber, and the system LED turns amber. Table 3-1 lists the eight tests and their associated LEDs. Note POST failures are usually fatal. Call Cisco Systems if your switch does not pass POST. This failure occurs because the expansion modules support 2048 MAC addresses and the switch supports 8192 MAC addresses. To correct the failure, restart the switch with the module installed.
