To configure BGP for NSF, perform this task (repeat this procedure on each of the BGP NSF peer devices): Step 1 Step 2 Command Router# configure terminal Router(config)# router bgp as-number Step 3 Router(config-router)# bgp graceful-restart Purpose Enters global configuration mode. Enables a BGP routing process, which places the router in router configuration mode. Enables the BGP graceful restart capability, starting BGP NSF. If you enter this command after the BGP session has been established, you must restart the session for the capability to be exchanged with the BGP neighbor. Use this command on the restarting router and all of its peers. Verifying BGP NSF To verify BGP NSF, you must check that the graceful restart function is configured on the SSO-enabled networking device and on the neighbor devices.
