TWO-WAY CHUTE-PITCH CONTROLTM CHUTE CLEAN-OUT TOOL Thetwo-waychute-pitchcontrolis locatedon the left sideof the handlepaneland isusedto controlthe distanceof snow discharge from thechute. * Tochangetheupper chuteangle to controlthe distancethat snow isthrown,pivotthe leverforwardor backward. The chuteclean-outtool isconvenientlyfastenedto the rearof the auger housingwith a mountingclip. Shouldsnowand icebecome lodgedinthe chute assemblyduringoperation,proceedas followsto safelycleanthe chuteassemblyand chuteopening: Movethe leverforwardto pivotthe upperchute downand reduce the distancesnow isthrown. Movethe leverrearwardto pivotthe upperchute upwardand increasethe distancesnowisthrown. CHUTE DiRECTiONAL CONTROL Neveruse yourhandsto cleara cloggedchute assembly.Shut off engineand remainbehindhandlesuntilall movingparts have stoppedbeforeunclogging. 1. Releaseboththe AugerControland the Drive Control. 2. Stop theengine by removingthe ignitionkey. 3. Removethe clean-outtool from theclip which securesit tothe rearof the auger housing. DISCHARGE LEFT ,.b m CHUTE TiLT DOWN CHUTE TiLT UP J 4. Usethe shovel-shapedend of the clean-outtool to dislodgeand scoop anysnow and ice whichhas formedin and nearthe chute assembly. 5. Refastenthe clean-outtoolto themountingclip on the rearof the auger housing,reinsertthe ignitionkeyand start the snow thrower'sengine. 6. Whilestandingin the operator'sposition(behindthe snow thrower),engagethe augercontrolfor a few secondsto clear any remainingsnow and ice from thechute assembly. CHUTE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL BEFORE STARTING ENGINE Thechute directionalcontrolislocatedon the left sideof the snow thrower. * Tochangethe directionin which snow is thrown,crank clockwise to dischargeto the Idt and counterclockwiseto dischargeto the right. WHEEL STEERING CONTROLS Theleft and rightwheelsteeringcontrolsare locatedon theunderside of the handles.Squeezethe rightcontrolto turn right; squeezethe left controlto turn left. NOTE: Operatethesnow throwerin open areasuntilyou are familiar with thesecontrols. HEADLIGHT Read,understand,and follow all instructionsand warningson the machineand in this manualbeforeoperating. Oil The unitwas shippedwith oil in the engine.Checkoil levelbeforeeach operationto ensureadequateoil in the engine.Forfurther instructions, referto the Service & Maintenancesectionof this manual. NOTE:Be sureto checkthe engineon a levelsurfacewith theengine stopped. 1. Removethe oil filler cap/dipstickand wipe thedipstickclean. 2. Insertthe cap/dipstickintothe oil filler neck,and tightenthe cap turningclockwiseuntilcap is seated. Theheadlightis locatedinsideof the handle panel. DRIFT CUTTERS Thedrift cuttersare designedfor use in deep snow.Their useis optionalfor normalsnowconditions.Maneuverthe snowthrowerso that the cutterspenetratea high standingsnowdrift to assist snow fallingintothe augersfor throwing. NOTE:On someengines,a threadedscrewcapwill be present insteadof the quarterturn lockingcap. Inthe instanceof a threadedoil cap/dipstick,DO NOTscrewthe cap/dipstickin to check. Checkthe oil by restingthecap/dipstickon thethreads, butnot screwingit in. Removethe oil filler cap/dipstick.If the levelis low,slowlyadd oil (5W-30,with a minimumclassificationof SF/SG)untiloil level registersbetweenhigh (H) and low (L). NOTE:Donot overfill.Overfillingwith oil may resultin enginesmoking, hardstartingor sparkplug fouling. 4. Replaceand tightencap/dipstickfirmly beforestartingengine. 15

Oil

Removethe oilfiller cap/dipstickandwipe thedipstickclean.
2.
Insertthe cap/dipstickintothe oil filler neck,and tightenthe cap
