Remove the two 3-mm screws from the top of the metal shielding carrier. 2. Remove the two 3-mm screws from the side of the plastic carrier. NOTICE: The metal on the shielding carrier is sharp. Be careful not to cut yourself. 3. Lift the metal shielding carrier out of the plastic carrier. Lift the back of the metal shielding carrier first and then slide it out. 4. Unsnap the metal latches along the top of the metal shielding carrier from the metal tabs on the bottom of the metal shielding carrier, and then remove the top. 5. Remove the diskette drive from the metal shielding carrier. 6. Remove the flex cable from the diskette drive. 7. Remove the 3-mm screw securing the mounting ear from the diskette drive, and remove the mounting ear. Dell Inspiron 7500 — Removing and Replacing Parts
To remove the diskette drive from the plastic carrier, perform the following steps:
1.
Remove the two 3-mm screws from the top of the metal shielding carrier.
2.
Remove the two 3-mm screws from the side of the plastic carrier.
NOTICE: The metal on the shielding carrier is sharp. Be careful not to cut
yourself.
3.
Lift the metal shielding carrier out of the plastic carrier.
Lift the back of the metal shielding carrier first and then slide it out.
4.
Unsnap the metal latches along the top of the metal shielding carrier from the
metal tabs on the bottom of the metal shielding carrier, and then remove the top.
5.
Remove the diskette drive from the metal shielding carrier.
6.
Remove the flex cable from the diskette drive.
7.
Remove the 3-mm screw securing the mounting ear from the diskette drive, and
remove the mounting ear.
When reassembling the diskette drive, be sure that the bottom of the metal shielding
carrier sits inside the groove at the front of the plastic carrier.
