Dell OpenManage Server Assistant

on your system utility partition, cannot test the PowerEdge Expandable RAID Control-
ler 2/Dual Channel (PERC 2/DC) small computer system interface (SCSI) adapter. If
your system contains one or more of these adapters with drives attached, you will
receive the message
Unknown target error
when you run the diagnostics. The
error message applies only to the PERC 2/DC SCSI adapter and can be ignored. The
remainder of the diagnostics testing is not affected.

To avoid the error message when running the diagnostics, complete the following
steps:
1.
Boot to the utility partition and run the Dell Diagnostics.
2.
Choose
Select Devices to Test
in the main menu of the Dell Diagnostics.
3.
Select
PERC 2/DC
in the
Device Groups
window.
4.
Highlight
Select
in the taskbar along the bottom of the screen and press
<Enter>.
5.
Select
One
in the taskbar and press <Enter>.
6.
Press <Esc> and select
Run tests
in the taskbar.
7.
Highlight
All
in the taskbar and press <Enter>. This runs all the diagnostics
except the PERC 2/DC tests.
To test the PERC 2/DC adapter(s), complete the following steps:
1.
Boot to the
Dell OpenManage Server Assistant
CD.
2.
Select
SETUP
from the taskbar at the top of the screen.
3.
Choose
Create Diskettes
from the PowerEdge setup screen.
