This installation guide provides instructions for trained service technicians to install
one or more Dell
PowerEdge 8450 computers in a Dell rack. The following rack-
mounting components are included in a kit that comes with the system (see
Figure 1-1):

One pair of slide assemblies with mounting brackets

One cable-management arm
³
One cage-nut installation tool
³
Ten 10-32 x 0.5-inch pan-head Phillips-head screws

Three 10-32 x 0.25-inch pan-head Phillips-head screw s

Three 6-32 x .25 screws
³
Twelve 8-32 x.313 countersunk screws
³
Two 10-32 cage nuts
³
One cable tray
NOTES: The number of parts may vary for rack kits preinstalled by Dell.
If you have purchased a Dell rack along with your PowerEdge system, some of the
hardware may be preinstalled in the rack.
The nonmetric screws described in illustrations and procedural steps are identified by
size and the number of threads per inch. For example, a #10 Phillips-head screw with
32 threads per inch is identified as a 10-32 screw.
