2. To customize the virtual controller network settings, select Custom from the Virtual Controller network settings drop-down list. The fields for configuring virtual controller netmask, gateway, VLAN, and DNS IP are displayed. 3. Enter subnet mask details in Virtual Controller Netmask. 4. Enter a gateway address in Virtual Controller Gateway. 5. To configure a DNS IP address, enter the DNS IP address in Virtual Controller DNS. If the DNS IP address is configured for a master W-IAP, the DNS IP settings are synchronized for all APs in a W-IAP cluster. The following conditions are applicable to the DNS IP configuration: l If the DNS IP address is configured for an AP as part of the per AP setting (Edit Access Point > General) , it takes precedence over the Virtual Controller DNS IP address defined in the System > General window. l If the APs are not explicitly assigned a DNS IP address, the DNS IP address defined in System > General takes precedence. l If the DNS IP address is not defined for APs or virtual controller, the DNS address dynamically assigned from the DHCP server is used. 6. Enter Virtual Controller VLAN in Virtual Controller VLAN. Ensure that the VLAN defined for virtual controller is not the same as the native VLAN of the W-IAP. 7. Click OK. The auto join mode feature allows W-IAPs to automatically discover the Virtual Controller and join the network.

Auto Join Mode
feature is enabled by default. If the auto join mode feature is disabled, a
