Installing an Optical Drive

NOTICE: To connect a network cable, first plug the cable into the network port or device and then plug it into the computer. 8 Connect the computer and devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on. Installing an Optical Drive 1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 85. 2 Remove the computer cover (see "Removing the Computer Cover" on page 86). 3 Remove the drive panel (see "Removing the Drive Panel" on page 113). 4 Remove the existing optical drive, if applicable (see "Removing an Optical Drive" on page 123). 5 Prepare the optical drive for installation and check the documentation that accompanied the drive to verify that the drive is configured for your computer. NOTE: If you are installing an IDE drive, configure the drive for the cable select setting. 6 If no screws are attached to the drive, check the inside of the drive panel for screws and, if screws are present, attach the screws to the new drive. Installing an Optical Drive

Prepare the optical drive for installation and check the documentation that accompanied the drive to
verify that the drive is configured for your computer.
NOTE:
If you are installing an IDE drive, configure the drive for the cable select setting.

If no screws are attached to the drive, check the inside of the drive panel for screws and, if screws are
present, attach the screws to the new drive.
