Booting Sequence If you can not boot th e computer from th e hard disk, make A: then C: sure the booting sequence in SETUP is set to . Then boot the computer fr om a system di skette in drive A. Password If you forget your password, you must discharge your CMOS memory as fol lows: 1. Turn off the computer and remove th e cover. 2. Disabl e the password by settin g jumper JP1 on th e system boar d to posi tion 1-2. 3. Turn the computer on , leave it on for a few secon ds, th en tur n it off agai n. 4. Set jumper JP1 back to the O pen position (remove jumper) to enable th e password function . 5. Run SETUP to en ter a n ew password, if desi red. Installation/Support Tips Installing Diskette Drives t Make sure that the drive type has been correctly selected in the S ETUP program. t Make sure jumper JP22 is set to position 1-2 to enable the diskette drive con troller. Also make sure th at th e Diskette Con troller option is enabled i n th e BIOS SETUP program. Installing Hard Disk Drives t If you are installing a drive that cannot use the embedded IDE in terface (such as an ESDI drive), it i s recommended that you use a 16-bi t, AT-type h ard di sk con troller an d a PCI hard disk con trol ler for h igher performance. If you install a n on-IDE hard disk drive an d con tr ol ler card, you must disable the built-in IDE hard di sk dr ive interface (use the Local Bus IDE Adapter opti on i n th e BIOS SETUP progr am). Al so, remov e the h ard disk dr ive ribbon connector from th e system board. t When installing an IDE hard disk drive, use the auto- sensin g feature in SETUP to select th e cor rect type for the drive. If th e auto-sensin g feature does not pr oduce a match for the drive, you can defi ne your own driv e type by selecting User as th e type and en terin g th e drive's parameters. Installing Option Cards If you ar e installin g a video adapter card, make sur e you disable the buil t-i n VGA controller by setting jumper JP21 to 2-3.
