Solving Problems | 165 Message Explanation Response COMMAND ERROR CHECK DRIVER SETTINGS You may be using the wrong printer driver. Damaged data was sent to the printer or the data has an incorrect command. Press and hold the Pause button for 3 seconds to cancel the print job. Make sure you installed the correct driver for your printer. The driver's ink type configuration is not correct for the ink in the printer. Make sure the ink configuration is correct (see page 148). CONVERSION CRTG LIFE CONVERSION CRTG NEAR END OF SERVICE LIFE The conversion cartridge will need to be replaced soon. (Remaining service life is displayed on the LCD.) Press the Pause button to continue. CONVERSION CRTG LIFE REPLACE CONVERSION CRTG WITH A NEW ONE The conversion cartridge needs to be replaced. Replace the conversion cartridge with a new one. Or, complete the replacement of black ink by pressing the Pause button. COVER OPEN Front cover is open. Close the front cover. CLOSE COVER F/W INSTALL ERROR UPDATE FAILED RESTART THE PRINTER Firmware update failed. Restart the printer, then update the firmware again; see page 42 for instructions. INK CARTRIDGE An ink lever is raised, but no INSTALL INK CARTRIDGE cartridge is installed. Install the missing ink cartridge. INK CARTRIDGE NON-GENUINE CARTRIDGE! MAY NOT PERFORM AT OPTIMUM. CONTINUE? A non-genuine ink cartridge is installed. Press the r button to select NO and replace the ink cartridge with a genuine Epson ink cartridge; see page 141. Otherwise, press l to select YES. INK CARTRIDGE PLEASE USE GENUINE EPSON INK CARTRIDGES A non-genuine ink cartridge is installed. Replace the ink cartridge with a genuine Epson ink cartridge; see page 141. INK CARTRIDGE REPLACE INK CARTRIDGE Ink cartridge(s) are expended (printing stops). Replace the ink cartridge(s) indicated on the LCD display; see page 141. 165
