4 Safety for Children and Others This appliance is not intended for use by people (including children) who lack experience or knowledge, except under supervision or after receiving instruction regarding use of the appliance from a person responsible for their safety. Use by children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with or otherwise misusing the appliance. • Keep packing materials out of reach of children, these materials are potentially hazardous. During unit disposal, observe local standards for this type of waste material. • Do not touch the hot compressor at the rear bottom of the appliance as this may cause physical injury. Keep children away from the rear of the appliance. • Do not place items on top of the appliance as they could cause injury should they fall off. • Never allow children to hang or stand on the doors, racks, shelves and drawers etc. Electrical Safety To avoid the risks that are always present when using an electric appliance, we recommend that you follow the instructions below. • Unpack the appliance and carefully check the interior and exterior. Should any damage be evident, do not plug the appliance in, but rather contact the store immediately from which you purchased it. Keep all packing materials if this should occur. • We recommend that you wait for 4 hours before connecting the appliance to a power source to allow the refrigerant to flow back into the compressor. • The appliance must be installed with single phase alternating current of 110120/60Hz. If the voltage fluctuates, it could exceed maximum voltage limit. An automatic voltage regulator of more than 350W should be installed for safety. • The main outlet must be accessible when the appliance is installed. This appliance must be grounded. - This appliance is fitted with a fused plug in accordance with local standards. The fused plug should be suitable for use in all houses fitted with sockets in accordance with current specifications. - If the fitted plug is not suitable for your outlets, contact a qualified electrician. • Do not use extension cords when connecting your appliance. Always plug your appliance into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating matching the rating plate on the unit. Using an outlet with other electrics plugged in could cause overloading of wiring circuits and a potential fire. • Make sure that the plug is not squashed or damaged. Otherwise, it may cause a short circuit, electric shock or fire. • Do not plug the power cord in if the outlet is loose as this could lead to a risk of electric shock or fire. • Switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the main power before you clean or move it. • Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the outlet to prevent damaging the cord. • Do not operate the appliance without the light cover for the interior light as the light is very bright and might cause vision damage if not properly protected by the cover. • Any electrical component of the appliance must be replaced or repaired by a qualified electrician or authorized service personnel. Only authentic Fagor parts should be used. • Don't place electrical devices such as crock pots, blenders, ice cream makers, etc. in the interior of the refrigerator, unless recommended by the manufacturer of the device.
