EN 42 Troubleshooting Problem Possible causes What to do Slow ice cube freezing. Water has poor taste/odor. Door may have been left ajar. Freezer compartment too warm. Refrigerator not used for an extended period. Close door. Turn temperature to a colder setting (refer to page 19 for Ice & Water models or page 26 for non-Ice & Water models). Dispense 10 qt (10 L) water so fresh water supply is replenished. Water dispenser does not work. Water in first glass is warm. Filter warning light is flashing. Drips overflow drip-shelf. Water flow rate has slowed down. Taste or odor in ice cubes. Water supply turned off or not connected. Supply line may be blocked. On first installation there may be air in water system. Filter may be blocked and need replacing. Dispenser lock activated. Water frozen in tank. Water dispenser not used for extended period. Tank capacity used recently. Filter needs replacing. Air trapped in tank. New filter installed. Filter cartridge is blocked. Transfer of odor/taste from strong smelling foods. Turn water on. Press dispenser for 1 minute to remove trapped air from water line and to fill the water system. Check supply for kinks or leaks. To remove air, run 3 qt (3 L) of water through the dispenser. Replace filter (see back of this booklet for Customer Care contact details). Hold down the button for 2 seconds. Increase temperature to a warmer setting in fresh food compartment and freezer. Discard first glass of water dispensed. Allow water time to cool. Replace filter as soon as possible (refer to pages 22 - 23). Flush 3 qt (3 L) water through dispenser, stopping intermittently. Flush 3 qt (3 L) water through filter and then 3 qt (3 L) through dispenser. Replace water filter as soon as possible (refer to pages 22 - 23). Wrap or cover strong smelling foods.
