NOTE: The Discrete Input may be used for a remote On/Off switch. Grounding this input turns the unit on and removing ground turns the unit off. If a remote switch is not used, do not connect this wire. NOTE: Secure unused wires to prevent unintentional connections. NOTE: If the external serial device is not used, TxB should be left unconnected and RxB should be connected to ground. 3.2 External Antenna (Optional) The GDL 39 includes an internal GPS and detachable ADS-B antenna, but can use an optional external GPS antenna and/or an external ADS-B antenna. Use the installation instructions provided with the optional antennas. The GDL 39R includes an internal GPS antenna and can use an optional external GPS antenna. An external ADS-B antenna is required for the GDL 39R. The GDL 39R uses BNC antenna connectors. NOTE: The GDL 39 can receive GPS information when interfaced with certain Garmin GPS receivers.
