Marine Mode: Advanced Configuration NOTE: Additional AIS and DSC configuration options are available from the Navigation chart options. See page 39. Configuring Navigation Settings From the Home screen, touch Configure > Navigation. Auto Guidance-select the Auto Guidance parameters for your boat. • Safe Depth-set the minimum depth (using chart depth data) allowed when calculating an auto-guidance path. A safe depth of less than one meter is not allowed when using Auto Guidance. • Safe Height-set the minimum height (using chart height data) of a bridge that your boat can safely travel under. • Shoreline Distance-set how close you want to travel near the shore: Nearest, Near, Normal, Far, or Farthest. This is used by the automatic guidance calculation to determine how close to the shoreline you want the automatic-guidance line to be. Changing this while navigating an automatic-guidance line will recalculate the path. Route Labels-for saved routes, this determines whether route turns are indicated by number (Turn 1, Turn 2, and so on), by waypoint name, or whether the description of turns is hidden. Turn Transition Activation-set how the chartplotter transitions 38 to the next leg in a route. Increasing time or distance can improve autopilot accuracy when navigating a route or an automaticguidance line with many frequent turns, or when traveling at higher speeds. Decreasing time or distance can improve autopilot accuracy when navigating a straighter route or automatic-guidance line, or when traveling at slower speeds. • Turn Transition Time-set the time before a turn in a route that you transition to the next leg. • Turn Transition Distance-set the distance before a turn in a route that you transition to the next leg. • Off-transition when you have arrived at the next leg. Configuring XM Radio From the Home screen, touch Configure > XM Audio. NOTE: You must connect the optional GXM 40 XM receiver and have a subscription to XM Radio to use XM Radio features. For more information, refer to page 47. Volume Slider-adjust the XM volume level. Volume-show the volume level as a percentage. Touch Volume to mute the XM Radio. Channel Guide-select the specific XM channel within the currently selected category. GPSMAP 640 Owner's Manual
