Main Pages > Marine Mode Options Map Page When you press the ROCKER, the GPSMAP 96/96C enters cursor mode that pans the cartography to keep the cursor, the white pointer (panning) arrow icon , within the screen. When the cursor is active, an additional data window appears at the top of the screen to indicate the position, range, and bearing to the cursor or a selected waypoint or map item. Up to four user-selectable data fields can be selected to appear on the screen. From the Map Page Options, each data field can be configured to show any one of the possible data options. You can also add an HSI field which replaces two data fields on the page or select Map Only without data fields, using the Map Page Options Menu. Panning the Map with the Pointer Arrow The Pointer Arrow allows you to pan away from your present position and scroll to other map areas around the world (even outside of your current detail coverage). As you pan past the edge of the current map screen, the screen actively scrolls to provide continuous map coverage (keep in mind that the position icon stays in your present location and can not be visible on the screen when you pan the map).
