Basic Operation Basic Operation Radio Page The Radio page provides the user interface for FRS (Family Radio Service) and GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radio operations. Rinos work with third party FRS/GMRS radios using standard FRS/GMRS frequencies. To take advantage of all of the Rino features, communication with other Rinos is necessary. The Radio page also provides access to the Weather Radio (available in Rino 530HCx only), which provides a constant update of current weather conditions by receiving NOAA weather broadcasts for your area. The Weather Alert feature further enhances the Weather Radio by automatically notifying you of any weather alerts, even when the Weather Radio is not used and the FRS/ GMRS radio is not transmitting or receiving an audio transmission. These features are helpful while outdoors or when planning trips or activities. Radio Page Initializing the Rino When using the unit for the first time or you are more than 600 miles from your last used location, the GPS receiver must be initialized. To initialize the unit: Take the Rino outside where there is an unobstructed view of the sky and turn it on to search for satellite signals. A Satellite Signal graph is shown on the Radio page.
