Using MSN® Direct The MSN Direct Receiver and nüvi must be in range of an MSN Direct coverage area. See http://garmin.msndirect.com/coverage. To view MSN Direct content, from the Menu page, touch . Touch a category to view information for it. When calculating your route, the nüvi examines the traffic delays and optimizes the route for the shortest time. You might be routed through traffic if it is the best route available. If a severe traffic delay occurs on while you are navigating, the nüvi recalculates the route to avoid the delay. The Map page displays when there is a minor traffic delay on your route. The number represents the number of minutes the traffic will delay your route. The delay time has been automatically calculated into the arrival time. To view the details of the delays, touch . If there is more than one delay, touch Details. Touch Avoid to avoid this delay. Using Hands-Free Features To use the hands-free calling features, your mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology must be connected (paired) to the nüvi 680. See the owner's manual for more information about pairing. 1. On the Menu page, touch > Dial. 2. Enter the number, and touch Dial. 3. To end the call, touch , and then touch End Call. If you need to enter information using a keypad during the call, touch > Call Options > Touch Tones. Enter the information. Touch Back twice, when finished. Sending a Text Message 1. On the Menu page, touch > Text Message > Compose. 2. Select an option to select the text message recipient. 3. Enter the message, and touch Done. Using the Travel Kit The Travel Kit includes several functions that are helpful when you are traveling (for example, MP3 Player, Audible Book Player, and Currency Converter). On the Menu page, touch Travel Kit. Touch Help to learn more about each feature. Resetting the nüvi If the nüvi screen stops functioning, turn the nüvi off and on again. If this does not help, do the following: 1. Disconnect the nüvi from external power. 2. Flip up the antenna. 3. Press the Reset button. 4. Connect the nüvi to a power source. The nüvi should automatically turn back on and operate normally. Tips and Shortcuts • To quickly return to the Menu page, touch and hold Back. • Touch and to see more choices. Touch and hold to scroll faster. • To extend the battery life, close the antenna when you do not need GPS signals. • To adjust the audio or brightness, quickly press and release the Power button. You can also touch on the Menu page. • To switch the audio output between the nüvi and an FM stereo, quickly press the Power button twice. • To learn more about the nüvi Bluetooth® wireless technology or Travel Kit features, touch Help on the appropriate screen.
