26 APPENDIX D MANUAL RECORDING STRATEGIES Festival's automated CD copying modes largely eliminate the need to set up recordings manually, but users who require this capability will find the following information useful. Festival is always ON. This way, when you select CD, the CD begins to play with no further effort. When preparing to record, however, there are times when you may want to rewind a tape to the beginning and wait, or stop the tape at the end of a certain song. To facilitate this, Festival's tape navigation (NAV) controls are fully functional with the system in PAUSE. Simply press PAUSE, select TAPE, fast forward or rewind as needed, select your source to be recorded (CD, TV, or TUNR), press RCRD then TAPE then NORM, and press PAUSE again to begin recording. Also, in TAPE LISTENING mode find the point on the tape you want to record from by ear, and immediately press PAUSE. Then select your source to record from, press RCRD then TAPE then NORM, and press PAUSE again to begin recording.
