About this document This addendum provides information about IPv6 network protocol support and saving/restoring the autoloader configuration, which was added to the Autoloader after the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader User and service guide (part number AK377-96001) on the documentation CD was written. It also provides additional details about the wellness test and sequential mode. Network configuration and IPv6 This Autoloader contains new network features, including support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), DNS server configuration, and secure HTTP access to the RMI. The remote management interface (RMI) and operator control panel (OCP) menus have been updated to incorporate these new features. IPv6 is a new version of the Internet Protocol, and is designed to be the successor to IPv4, the current Internet Protocol. IPv6 provides more network addresses and adds many improvements to IPv4, especially in routing and network autoconfiguration. IPv6 is expected to gradually replace IPv4, with the two protocols coexisting during that time. The Autoloader supports both protocols and you can configure the Autoloader to use either or both, depending on your network requirements. Enabling HTTPS access HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer) provides authenticated and encrypted transfer of data over the Internet and is frequently used for secure web communication. If operators or administrators connect to the RMI over insecure networks, such as from home or a remote location, enabling HTTPS will keep an outsider from viewing the RMI communication. You can enable HTTPS from the RMI Configuration: Network page. Enabling IPv6 with the OCP By default, the Autoloader is configured to use IPv4 with DHCP. If your network supports IPv4 and has a DHCP server, you can find the IP address of the Autoloader from the OCP. You may use that address to access the RMI and configure IPv6. If the network does not have a DHCP server, set the IPv4 IP address from the OCP before accessing the RMI. To find the IP address obtained from an IPv4 DHCP server from the OCP, use the Status/Information > Network Information menu. To set the IPv4 IP address, or disable IPv4 and/or enable IPv6, use the Configuration > Configure Network Settings menu. Network con
guration and IPv6
This Autoloader contains new network features, including support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6),
DNS server con
guration, and secure HTTP access to the RMI. The remote management interface (RMI)

nd the IP address of the Autoloader from the OCP. You may use that address
to access the RMI and con
gure IPv6. If the network does not have a DHCP server, set the IPv4 IP
address from the OCP before accessing the RMI.
To
nd the IP address obtained from an IPv4 DHCP server from the OCP, use the
Status/Information
> Network Information
menu.
To set the IPv4 IP address, or disable IPv4 and/or enable IPv6, use the
Configuration > Configure
Network Settings
menu.
