Multiroll printing Here are some settings that might be used in typical situations: ● With different paper types loaded: ◦ Type is: select the paper type you require ◦ Source is: Automatically select / Predetermined ◦ Roll switching policy: doesn't matter ● With different paper widths loaded: ◦ Type is: Any ◦ Source is: Automatically select / Predetermined ◦ Roll switching policy: Minimize paper waste TIP: You can also save paper in some cases by rotating or nesting your images. See Use paper economically on page 88. ● With identical rolls loaded: ◦ Type is: Any ◦ Source is: Automatically select / Predetermined ◦ Roll switching policy: Minimize roll changes Job allocation with nesting If nesting is on (see Nest jobs to save paper on page 89), the printer assumes that your main aim is to save paper. Therefore, the roll switching options are ignored and the printer behaves as though Minimize paper waste has been chosen. See Roll switching options on page 25. If the paper mismatch action is set to Print anyway, jobs can be nested together on any roll, even if the roll does not match the paper source or paper type specified in the job settings. To respect these job settings, set the paper mismatch action to Put job on hold. See Paper mismatch action on page 25. TIP: If you have a roll intended for special purposes only, or with particularly expensive paper, you can use roll protection to prevent jobs from using that roll by accident. See Roll protection on page 91. ENWW How the printer allocates jobs to paper rolls 71
